Domaine Dujac Tasting
Hosted by Laetitia Vineyard & Winery
Our hosts,
Becky Corey, World of Pinot Noir Board of Directors
Nadia Wellisz, Director of Marketing Laetitia Vineyard & Winery
The Dujac wines exhibited a wonderful nose and delicate Pinot Noir flavors.
Fred mentioned that the wines, in particular the Charmes-Chambertin seemed brighter today
than they did at yesterday at the first Dujac Tasting. Temperature related?
Raj described the wines beautifully, especially the Clos de la Roche with Cherries & Cola!
I was impressed with the Power of the Clos St. Denis.
Jeremy Seysses said it best...
You are all invited to Domaine Dujac to visit and taste.
We want you to come away saying Domiane Dujac is good! Buy a bottle,
take it home and share it with friends over a meal! I did, and I coundn't agree more!
If you do get a chance to visit Domaine Dujac, ask for a taste of the Bonnes Marres!
Thank you Jeremy Seysess!

2001 Tantara Pisoni Vineyard (Barrel Sample), 1999 Pisoni Pisoni Vineyard,

2000 Patz & Hall Pisoni Vineyard, 1999 Siduri Pisoni Vineyard, 2000 Siduri Pisoni Vineyard
The Tasting!
Wow! The un-mistakeable Pisoni Vineyard was obvious in all of the wines,
while still carrying the house style of each winemaker.
The 2000's are more fruit forward at this point and show less structure than the 1999's.
Interestingly, the 1999's are starting to show more structure,
acidity and tannin then they did upon release.
The wines were also poured at a second tasting the day before at
The Cliffs Resort at Shell Beach in slightly warmer conditions.
Most people that were at both events said they tasted better under cooler conditions.
Temperature is everything.
From the 2001 barrel samples I have tasted, the Pisoni Vineyard
is getting better and better!
The winemakers are also learning how to make better wine from Pisoni fruit.

Aubert de Villaine, Co-director, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
tasted nearly every Pinot Noir, including Ken Bernards 2000 Pinot Noir Carneros.
Ken Bernards, winemaker Ancien Wines actually purchased 1999 Morey St. Denis fruit,
air mailed in a refrigerated container back to Napa and made Pinot Noir!
That's Ken Bernards in the background of the picture.
Karen MacNeil, Author, The Wine Bible
On top of all of this, at the World of Pinot Noir there are
numerous winemaking seminars during the day on everything from
yeasts and barrel technology to clones. Also, winemaker dinners on
Saturday night at local restaurants. Click here for a full list of participants.
Sunday - March 10, 2002
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Tasting
Host Winery: Talley Vineyards
Aubert de Villaine, Co-director, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Karen MacNeil, Moderator - Author, The Wine Bible
Aubert de Villaine spoke so eloquently, it was like poetry.
I will never forget the stories and he used to desribe the wines.
Great wine is made in the vineyard.
The Wines!
1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Echezeaux
1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux
1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanee-St.-Vivant
1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche
1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Montrachet
Everyone was speechless!
There are no words to describe these wines.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the finest Pinot Noir in the world!
Then, there's the Montrachet!
These are the finest young Domaine de la Romanée-Conti wines in recent memory.
Even at this early stage, it may be the finest Echezeaux and Romanée-St.-Vivant
the Domaine has ever produced. Certainly the finest I have ever had the pleasure of tasting!
The wines were also poured at a second tasting the day before at
The Cliffs Resort at Shell Beach in slightly warmer conditions.
Aubert de Villaine said they tasted more opulent the day before.
Today they show more purity. He believes it is temperature related.
Also tasted, 1993 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux
1990 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Echezeaux
